SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL – PLANNING TIPS FROM A LOCAL
Once again the Sundance Film Festival sneaks up on us in Park City, Utah. Every year tens of thousands of film buffs gather in our mountain town to view the films deemed the most impressive by the Sundance Institute. Hotels are full, restaurants reservations are made, vacation homes are rented, and local businesses brace for the impact of a festival now in its 30th year. For all the excitement surrounding the Sundance Film Festival, sometimes the basic task of making travel plans becomes a bit overwhelming. Here are a few basic tips to help make your festival experience a positive one:
Restaurants will be full – very full. If you don’t have reservations already, don’t count on being able to get a table on a whim. We recommend you make reservations as early as possible, maybe even before getting to Utah.
The skiing is fantastic! If you can tear away from the silver screen for a day, get on the slopes. Hardly anyone is out so it will feel as though you have the mountain all to yourself.
Shop for food in Salt Lake City before arriving to Park City. The supermarkets up here are crazy during Sundance. Save yourself a headache and shop before coming up.
Rent a car, but only when you need it. Car rentals in Park City will be tough to come by, however there is no more economical way to explore the area. Rent from Park City Four Wheel Drive Rental and we’ll bring the wheels to you! No waiting for a taxi and no shuttling to Salt Lake City Airport (SLC) to pick up a rental car.
After renting a car, give yourself some breathing room by exploring the area around Park City. Take a trip to Sundance Resort to see the Festival’s namesake.
We look forward to seeing you around town. Have fun!

From excellent food to lesser known powder stashes, in many ways the Greatest Snow on Earth begins just outside Park City. It would take a lifetime to find all the treasures within an hour drive, so we’ve marked a few places on the map below to get started.
With a car rental from Park City Four Wheel Drive, if the road is open, our vehicle can get there.
